LinkedIn is a platform for anyone looking to navigate their professional life. This including small business owners, students, and job seekers. The company has announced it will be reducing about six percent of its workforce, due to the COVID-19 worldwide slow down.
The Microsoft-owned company is relieving about 960 jobs from its global sales and talent acquisition teams. Coronavirus is having a huge impact on the demand for employment, both in our business and company CEO Ryan Roslansky said to the masses. He also added, “there are areas that are no longer relevant as we adjust to the to diminishing demand in our internal hiring”.
There are other factors contributing to the decision. The company is combining two media divisions which are- LinkedIn Marketing Solution and the Talent Solutions business. This is to avoid multiple costly platforms, systems, and tools internally.
LinkedIn will be providing 1 year of continuous health insurance for those in the US and six months for people around the world. The company workers who are leaving can keep their LinkedIn to themselves who will also receive at least 10 weeks of severance pay.
