Apple has removed its remote app from the App Store. Do not attempt to search for the app as iOS now has an integrated remote. Now you don’t need the remote app any longer to steer your Apple TV. The 9to5Mac team discovered that the digital store no longer holds the Apple TV Remote app. Apple Inc. as a company hasn’t openly clarified its reason for taking such an action but with the integrated remote made available on iOS, there is no reason keeping the app. Since the introduction of iOS 12, users have had access to an Apple TV remote in their Control Center on iPhone and iPad. This has made the need for the stand-alone remote app irrelevant.
At the moment, the support entry for the Apple TV Remote now tells users How to Add Remote Control to Control Center. This reveals the changes that have been made. The article on Apple’s Support Website now suggests that users add the Remote option to the iOS Center.
The Apple TV Remote app isn’t the same as the iTunes Remote app (This app is still available on the App Store).
If you are making use of anything short of the iOS 12, you won’t have access to the integrated remote. Apple has been patient enough with its users for them to make an update.
