If you’re planning on visiting this amazing place, however, you may find that getting an Australia visa from the USA isn’t as simple as you thought it would be.
This guide will walk you through how to apply for an Australia visa from the USA and where to get started with your application process today!
How much does it cost?
Applying for a visa isn’t free. The cost varies by country, and it can also vary depending on whether you’re applying through a state or federal government service, whether you’re applying as a tourist or for business/employment, and so on.
Applying for an Australian working holiday visa costs AUD$535, while a general visitor visa costs AUD$140.
Fees based on English skills and education
If you have an English-language test score of 6.5 or higher, your fee is set at $1,561; if your score is between 5.0 and 6.4 you’ll pay $1,422; and if your scores are less than 5.0, you’ll pay a total of $2,838 (including three separate application fees).
Note that all fees are subject to change as per Australian law; most changes occur during January and April each year. Besides check with your nearest Australian consulate for up-to-date information on visa fees.
How long will it take?
A standard visa takes around 8 weeks to process. Faster visas can be expedited, but cost more and are generally reserved for people with urgent travel needs.
It’s always best to apply as early as possible. That way you know whether your application has been approved or rejected without having wasted any money on non-refundable airfare or hotels.
If you haven’t received a reply within a few months, get in touch with your sponsor and check if they sent everything correctly.
What Documents do I need?
To qualify for an Australian Working Holiday visa, you will need to demonstrate that you are under 31 years of age, that you have at least 4 months’ funds available, and that you have a return ticket.
If your qualifications and employment experience meet the requirements of the program, your visa will be granted.
If it does not, however, you may still be eligible for another Working Holiday program in Australia or another country.
What are the advantages of a points-based system?
There are two major advantages of a points-based system. First, it promotes immigration of people who are skilled and educated; it’s been shown that immigrants with high education tend to earn more, pay more taxes, contribute more to their communities and generally make a better contribution than poorly educated immigrants.
The second advantage is that because you don’t have to prove you have any particular skill or talent (aside from language skills), there is no reason why you can’t apply as soon as you get your visa.
You can move when you want, not when your employer says so. This means if your company goes under or if your boss turns out to be a jerk, you can leave quickly without having to worry about finding another job in order to stay in the country legally.
What’s required in terms of Australian family or work experience?
Australian visas are evaluated based on individual circumstances. That said, if you’re applying for a temporary work visa in Australia, you will need at least three years of work experience or some combination of education and training that equates to at least three years of full-time employment in your field.
If you don’t have these experiences, it may be possible to prove your qualification through other means.
