Child Abuse is simply trampling on the rights of children by maltreating them. As simple as this may sound, it is one of the major issues facing the world today. The UN , have continually addressed thing like;

  • Child Abuse
  • Child Trafficking

I say a very big thank you to celebrities and organizations that have used their influence to fight against this. The truth remains that these abused children are abused by individuals who are close to them. You may ask how? These kids are maltreated by parents, relatives, caregivers, guardian and even external bodies etc.

Child Abuse I don’t blame the kids, they are little and naïve and do not understand everything. My anger is on the people who carry these acts on these kids. They are practically wicked individuals who delight in taking advantage of these kids.

Child Abuse Story

If you don’t communicate with people you meet every day, you may never understand why they are the way they are. Having a friend isn’t as important as what is ongoing with them. I love the narrator so much..

I was a young and naïve young girl who lived in Lagos, Nigeria I remember growing up around relatives and loved ones. My parents loved me and always saw me as their pretty little girl. It is a great thing to have relatives around but I will advise parents to keep an eye on everyone who comes around the house. The story I am about to tell you is painful and unbelievable but has been hidden in the bowels of my loins for too long. It’s time to let it out even if I have let go.

I was just 3 years old when we I had this cousin who stayed with us. Who won’t love her male cousin to be around? It is very lovely especially when it’s the opposite sex. Although he was older but I never saw him as someone who nursed such evil in his heart. On a very warm day, he took advantage of me. There was presently no one around except the both of us. Taking advantage of that, he held me and in my naivety asked me not to say a word or mention it to anyone. At that tender stage I saw myself sexually abused. He took away one thing that was so precious and could never be replaced. It caused me a lot of pain and anguish. It made me something develops hate especially for the opposite sex.

Up until now, I had never mentioned it to anyone not even my parents because I feared my cousin. Am currently 21 years of age and have lived with this for a long time. Just felt it was time to let it out. It wasn’t easy going through this alone. It had a great psychological effect on me and made me very insecure around the opposite sex. Am thankful I was able to go through with personal therapies and have delight in helping others with similar cases. Now I look at that cousin of mine and I don’t feel a thing even though I know he still remembers. These shows have risen above it. I call on the UN to put an end to Child Abuse.  Say ‘NO’ to Child Abuse.

Types Of Child Abuse

Aside from the well know sexual abuse, there are still other forms of Child Maltreatment. Although, most of them are not so much addressed but they are real. They are:

  • Sexual Abuse
  • Emotional Abuse
  • Domestic Violence
  • Neglect

SEXUAL ABUSE – Without delving much into this, the story above is a practical example of Sexual Abuse. A lot of kids have been victims to this kind of abuse. The most annoying thing are the ways the perpetrators of this acts carry it out without considering how tender and undeveloped the sexual organs of these young ones are. It is very painful because this affects the psych of these kids. It leads to things like inferiority. This is the reason you find some kids not being able to speak for themselves. The abusers make these kids afraid and may even threaten to do something dangerous to them if they ever dare speak of it. What a tragedy.

Here is a content of a Teenage girl who was groomed.

The kind of practices carried out is just too painful to talk about. Some include:

  • Touching of child’s sexual organs
  • Touching of genitals with objects or fingers
  • Oral Sex
  • Anal or Vaginal Sex

It is really painful to think that kids go through all this without anyone to speak about it. If you know someone who does this to a child and you’ve been keeping quiet, you are also a perpetrator of the act. So for you own good speak about it. Justice must prevail. Some other times, the acts may even be carried out by multiple perpetrators (Organized Sexual Abuse). This shows how wicked individuals can be. Some of these partakers of this crime are terrorist groups who have abused power by taking these children hostage and doing as they please with them. What annoys the most is the fact they aren’t ashamed to stream these acts live for people to see. This is unacceptable. We must esteem these children because they are the future.

Emotional Abuse –  This is simply the psychological abuse or maltreatment of a child. Funny enough, Sexual Abuse play a key role in the abuse of a child’s emotions. Before these acts are carried out on them, it is important to note that the adults who abuse them always play on their minds. The mind has the emotions as one of its parts.

The abusers most times succeed in channeling the emotions of these children to the wrong paths. They are exposed to things they are too young to take. Factors like; depression, hate, regret, shame and shyness are the fruits bared from emotional abuse. When you as a grown adult make children believe something is right when it is wrong, you just abused that child. The abusers mostly succeed in doing this every time but end up leaving a mark which would take long to erase. It becomes a scar as most of them think something precious may have left them. This they feel they should pride as their honor and dignity.

Domestic Violence – Domestic Violence or Family violence is a lengthy subject which has been discussed majorly here, Child have also be victims of this kind of maltreatment. Indiscriminate hitting a child has been prohibited in some parts of the world in other parts, it still holds. It has led to the death and suffering of many child. Just follow the link above and learn more.

A part of this is Physical Abuse where the care giver intends to discipline the child but end up going too far. Unreasonable spanking is evidence.

Neglect –  It is simply the act of not carrying out due responsibilities to children for some supposed reason. No child deserves neglecting. This is a form of abuse that has led to things like; ‘Child Starvation’. I know WHO, UNICEF and other strong bodies are trying their best to make sure children are being catered for but truth be told, more has to be done.
