Christian Parenting is the greatest kind of upbringing you can give your child. Let’s take an example from the Bible. Remember Hannah? She gave Samuel to the Lord. Now I am not saying you should go and drop your child at the altar. Just groom the child to grow up observing Biblical principles. Our Lord Jesus said in the Gospel of St. Matthew chapter 9 vs 14 “suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven”. Which means that; God works through children too.

Christian Parenting

As long as you are a devoted Christians, your child should adore God too. Christian Parenting is something that should be started from the onset. I am not saying it’s too late anyway because, God is always welcoming his children every moment of the day. God is love and your children should be taught and brought up that way. Conscious of his grace and unending love. Try to imagine your child preach to a congregation (as a child I mean) or rather leading the songs in the choir. That feeling in your heart is joy, peace, happiness and most especially fulfillment. Who knows? God can speak to you through your children.

Christian Parenting

A lot of questions have been asked on Christian Parenting but here is a question. What kind of parent are you? For reference purposes, the Bible says; “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22 vs 6). You can never bring up a godly child if you don’t create a godly atmosphere around that child. Okay, another question; how can you encourage to love God when you are not showing love to those around you? “Train up a child in the way he should go”. Exactly my point! Your child is watching you like every passing minute, following your footsteps. So, before you change your child, change you.

Tips on Christian Parenting

The following are tips on Christian Parenting:

  • Ask God for direction – Life without God is worthless; a total waste of time. Before you start any day, talk to God and ask him to direct your path. As long as God is in the picture, you certainly have no worries. Not even the tiniest bit.
  • Create a peaceful atmosphere – This is very important because, where there is conflict in the home, your child will grow up to be aggressive. Not caring about anyone’s feelings. Try as much as possible not to get angry over little things. In the end, have self-control.
  • Make it deep-rooted – This lifestyle has to be ingrained in their lives. You have to start teaching them about God as they grow. Also, get to understand and know your child; their weakness and strength .Learn to never compare your child to another. Each child is special (Tell your child everyday how blessed he or she is), make your child feel comfortable around you by encouraging them and uplifting their spirits.
  • Pray and study the Bible with them every day – This cultures them and helps build their faith strong in God. Always remember that a family that prays together, stays together. Pray with them every morning and night. Share the word with them, emphasize on the benefits of serving God and reverence him every day.

One last thing, don’t try to force Christianity on your child. Let them know that being a Christian is a lot of fun and that; Christianity isn’t a religion but a life.
