Amazon’s own shopping holiday ‘prime day’ will still hold this as planned this year, but it won’t be for a while, the organization announced to the public on Tuesday. As a result of the current global pandemic(COVID-19) affecting operations worldwide, a spokesman confirmed “we’ll be holding Prime Day later than usual,” while promising to share “more details soon.”
For the past five years, Prime Day has been an important celebration and time for Prime members to shop amazing deals for themselves as well as friends and relatives. “It is something we look forward to every year,” says the spokesman. This year the Prime Day delayed and would be held later than usual.
The news didn’t come as much of a surprise though. Prime Day 2019 was on for two days from July 15th, and on July 16th. A different report came in from Reuters and the Wall Street Journal cited delays from July to August and then September. Moreover, Prime Day will take place in India from August 6th- August 7th.
Prime Day will be held later than usual this year while ensuring the safety of Amazon employees and giving support to partners and customers. The company is overwhelmed Prime members India get to experience Prime Day on kicking off from August 6th – August 7th.
Amazon promised to hire a total amount of 100,000 additional warehouses and delivery staff in the US, after restricting the items third-party sellers could store in its warehouse to prioritize the delivery of cleaning and medical supplies.
The company has also come under fire over its handling of the pandemic, especially from employees. Amazon got sued by workers at its Staten Island warehouse, accusing it of not following from CDC and New York state public health guidelines, as well as the quarantine laws. However, Amazon clarified that it followed all necessary guidelines and that 91 of its facilities have passed state inspections.
The company has also come out to tell members to await the forthcoming Prime Day because it is coming to be a wonderful experience.
