Facebook just added screen sharing to its iOS and Android mobile applications. This is a feature that Facebook has been working on for some time now. At this very moment, Facebook users can now share their photos and at the same time carry out other activities on the Facebook platform.
Messenger which is Facebook’s chat platform keeps advancing as Facebook looks for new ways to increase user experience. The fight to maintain relevance in the social media industry has never stopped as far as Facebook is concerned. With extending screen sharing to iOS and Android, Facebook plans to compete with video chat giants like Zoom and Google Hangouts. This is a strategic step because it has come during the Covid-19 pandemic which has brought about an increase in online meetings.
Facebook says; “Messenger’s new feature will allow you to scroll through your photos, surf social media, or shop together online with friends more easily than before.”
With the inclusion of the new Messenger Rooms feature which is a group video chat platform, Facebook users can now share their screens with up to 16 people which is the initial rollout. Facebook is currently working on users being able to share their screens with up to 50 people in Messenger Rooms.
Screen sharing is applicable to Messenger and Messenger Rooms video calls on both iOS and Android Mobile apps now. So, if you are a Facebook user, get ready to enjoy this.
