Facebook is at the moment focusing on letting businesses sell products directly on WhatsApp. The social media giant wants more individuals shopping in the messaging app. The company in a recent update says it plans to expand the in-app shopping feature in its messaging app to give users more ways to buy products directly from chats.
At the moment, Facebook hasn’t given full details about this new development. There is a promotional video already available that gives an idea about the transaction procedures. It works something like this; a user sends a business a message, the message is replied with a link having a product catalog. Once this is done, the shopper can checkout from WhatsApp after adding items to he/she charts.
In the past, WhatsApp has had a catalog feature which had limits compared to what Facebook is introducing now. Marketplace is a feature already on Facebook but the company is pushing further to expand its shopping features across its messaging app. Facebook just launched Facebook Shops. This is a feature that allows businesses to create product catalogs. The social media giant is expanding its shopping feature across all its social media networks. For people to transact they would have to use Facebook Pay.
