Garmin is finally giving users the details about the system outage the company has been dealing with since the morning of July 23rd. The company has just confirmed earlier that it was the victim of an external cyber attack that encrypted some of the company’s systems.
This attack led to hacking the host of Garmin’s systems, including “website functions, customer support, customer-facing applications, and company communications.” Garmin says it has no evidence what so ever that any customer info, including payment, records information stored in Garmin Pay, was accessed by the hackers.
Although things have been coming back online, Garmin confirmed it will still take a few days before everything is fully stable and back to normal. The company also said it will likely take a little time for everything to sync back up fully once those online services are functioning again.
Finally, Garmin said the functionality of its products was barely affected aside from these online components. But given how crucial connectivity is for wearable devices, that is likely little comfort to users who have been running into problems for days now.
