Google recently launched another feature that helps in checking for proper audio and video before entering a meeting. The company previously gave us something to help prevent others from seeing your environment using the “Ready to Join?” video preview window, Meet latest “green room” feature can do more than that.
Now you can click the “Check your audio and video” button in the preview to confirm that your peripheral devices and network are working well before joining a meeting or going in. The company says it can help users with issues such as poor sound quality and loud background noise, muted microphones, and missing speaker or headphone connection.
If a problem is detected, Meet will notify you with troubleshooting tips for common issues. You’ll be able to choose the mic, speaker, and camera you want to use in case you have external devices plugged in. Within the next 15 days, the feature will be available to all G Suite users and Google Workspace.
