Google is giving the start to websites that publish coronavirus theories using its ad platform.
Google intends to implement a policy that bans ads of certain pages or to block an entire website from being to advertise on its platform. Starting August 18, publishers who promote coronavirus conspiracies to monetize their website with Google ads will no longer be allowed.
The purpose of the new policy is to reduce the number of publishers who release false information about the coronavirus which can be harmful to human health. It also puts a stop to the spreading of misinformation about vaccines yet to be made.
Moreover, with the help of many other companies, Google has been able to maintain equilibrium with articles and contents pertaining to the global pandemic. Search engines banned non-governmental advertisers from running ads on its network earlier on in 2020.
Google also made it impossible for advertisers to publish their contents and videos for monetization on their other platforms eg YouTube. COVID-19 being a sensitive topic was made one of the top priorities to keep brands away from deceiving people and earning largely from it.
