You might have heard of G suite before but now is it is being rebranded to Google Workspace with many more compatibilities and features which is available to everyone even those using the free google account.
The main myth behind workspace formally known as G suite is to enable and deep and better integration with users in the google space. It is nothing more like the normal google apps we are already familiar with i.e google drive, Google Docs, calendar, Google meets, and chat, but this time the google workspace is better because of its deep integration and features.
Due to the great compatibilities and features of the google workspace Application, google has a paid option that goes for $9.99 per month. For users that will go for the premium, the option will have access to smart booking services, professional video services, and personalized email marketing, and much more on the way as promised by Google.
This new paid feature will be available in Australia, the US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, and Japan.
Javier Soltero, VP, and GM at Google Workspace said in a press statement that “Collaboration doesn’t stop at the workplace — our products have been optimized for broad participation, sharing and helpfulness since the beginning,” she also said that “Our focus is on delivering consumers, workers, teachers and students alike an equitable approach to collaboration, while still providing the flexibility that allows these different subsets of users to take their own approach to communication and collaboration.”
Soltero also explained in a press briefing that “Back in October of last year, we announced some very significant updates to our communication and collaboration product line and our business, starting with the new brand and identity that we chose around Google Workspace that’s meant to represent what we believe is the future direction and real opportunity around our product — less around being a suite of individual products and more around being an integrated set of experiences that represent the future of work,”
One of the new features also includes what google calls “Spaces” if you were familiar with this before you would remember the “Rooms” option but now it’s called spaces. The main idea behind this is that Google says it is “evolving the Rooms experience in Google and the Chat into a dedicated place for organizing projects, topics and people in Google Workspace.”
New Features for Rooms
Google says;
- Presence indicator which enables users to know your offline and online status
- Expressive reactios

There is more to the features. Google has also introduced a whole lot more features, for example, Google Meet is getting a companion mode that is said to foster “collaboration equity in a hybrid world.”
The main goal behind this is to give those who are in the physical meeting room and also interacting with remote participants, a companion experience to use features like screen sharing, polls, in-meeting chat, hand raise, and Q&A live captions on their devices. Every participant using the companion mode will also get their own video tile.
Also new is an RSVP choice that will permit you to choose whether or not you will take part remotely, in an assembly room (or no longer at all), as nicely as new moderation controls to enable hosts to stop the use of in-meeting chat and to mute and unmute character participants.
On the protection side, Google nowadays additionally introduced that it will permit customers to deliver their very own encryption keys. Currently, Google encrypts your data, however, it does control the key for you. To fortify your security, you may additionally favor delivering your very own keys to the service, so Google has now partnered with carriers like Flowcrypt, Futurex, Thales, and Virtru to allow this.
“With Client-side encryption, customer data is indecipherable to Google, while users can continue to take advantage of Google’s native web-based collaboration, access content on mobile devices, and share encrypted files externally,” writes Google directors of product management Karthik Lakshminarayanan and Erika Trautman.
