The Apple AirPods is quite an important and interesting accessory to use, provided by the tech giants Apple Incorporated. These wireless devices have noise cancellation ability and considering that they are wireless, you can be guaranteed that they won’t consume as much energy or battery life from the device they are connected to. Unlike what a lot of people expected initially, the Apple AirPods can actually connect with a very wide range of devices with Bluetooth support, from your game consoles to your android devices, PC, and in this case your Chromebook.
Since the Chromebook comes with simplistic features, you wouldn’t really expect to explore the many qualities of the Airpod using your Chromebook, but you sure can pair your AirPods to your Chromebook and this is how.
- STEP 1 – SET UP THE BLUETOOTH ON YOUR CHROMEBOOK
The only way to connect your Apple AirPods to your Chromebook is through Bluetooth, hence this first step and the subsequent. As you open your Chromebook, navigate to the menu tab where you have the connectivity icon, just at the bottom right part of your screen. Click on this tab, next you would see a pop-up menu among which is the Bluetooth icon. If it isn’t turned on, click on it to turn it on.

- STEP 2 – SET UP YOUR AIRPODS TO PAIR
For your AirPods to pair, you would have to first place them in the charging pack, turn over the pack, and long press (press and hold) the circular set up button you find there. To confirm that it is ready to pair, check for the lid on the charging pack and open it, then confirm that the LED light in the charging case is flashing a white light. If it isn’t, try to disconnect the AirPods from the charging pack and repeat the process.
- STEP 3 – THE ACTUAL PAIRING
After setting up your AirPods for pairing, you can go back to your Chromebook and go to your Bluetooth settings, under the list of available Bluetooth devices, you would see the AirPods. Click on it to complete pairing. Now the LED light on the charging pack would be green to confirm pairing.
Challenges of Connecting Airpods to Chromebook
- Time Lag – Although you would have the same quality of sound when you use AirPods with any Bluetooth device, for the Chromebook, it’s the same great sound but you might experience a time lag when watching videos on your Chromebook using the Apple AirPods. Most users have even complained that they prefer the AirPods experience with android devices. This seems not to be the first challenge Chromebook has with Bluetooth connection, as they are known to have poor Bluetooth connection.
- Proximity Limit – You just can’t use your AirPods too far from your Chromebook, this is probably because the Bluetooth sensor on Chromebook isn’t so great. You would need to be in close proximity so that the Airpods don’t get disconnected.
