Using The “Contact Us” Web Page
This method seems to be the most straight forward to close your Amazon account. After you log in, you will see a page that reads “Request your data”. After you complete this process, you would be sent a confirmation email.

You would have to log into the official Amazon website (amazon.com) and navigate to the “Help” section under the list of “Let us help you”. After clicking on “Help”, you would be shown a list of options, go to the end of the list and click on “Need more help?”. On the top right of the page, click on “Contact us”. After that, you would be taken to a new page where you would click on “Prime or Something Else”. Next, you are led to another page where you would see “Tell us more”. When here, click on “log in and security” and then “close my account”. At this point, you can either choose to close your account via email, by phone, or via chat.
If you click on the E-mail option, you would be led to a new page where you would be requested to fill your reason for closing the account. After you submit, you would get a response within 12 hours with adequate information on how to complete the process of closing your account.
If you click on the Phone option, you would be led to a new page where you would enter your phone number and click on “call me now” and wait for a customer care representative to contact you. The call from the representative will guide you on how to close your account.
If you click on the Chat option, you would be led to a chat room where you would select your reason to chat with the representative. After selecting an option related to log in and security, or entering your reason. You would be sent an email. After reading through the email, click on the link contained in the email to delete or close your account.
You must be aware however that deleting or closing your amazon account comes with some consequences like.
- Losing your Amazon payment account
- Losing login access to amazon owned sites
- Your subscription on Amazon prime would be closed
- Your outstanding orders would automatically be canceled
- You would lose current balance or benefits on your amazon gift cards
- You won’t be able to make returns or replacements on items purchased
- All digital content previously purchased would be cleared, including Kindle eBooks, Your music, and games.
Finally, ensure you don’t have any outstanding orders before you delete your account, and if you do, ensure to cancel them first before you proceed to delete your Amazon account.
