Spotify is a Swedish company founded by Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon in 2006. They specialize in providing music streaming and variety media services. How To Delete Your Spotify Account Using Your Web Browser
After logging into your Spotify account on your web browser, navigate to the “Contact Customer Support” page and click on “account management” amongst the listed options. Next, you would click on “I want to close my account”. After clicking, you would observe a bar at the bottom of the page that reads “Close account”, Click on it. After clicking on “close account”, the next page will show you some steps to close your account. Click on the “Continue” button to go through to the next step. The next page will be to confirm the account you’re closing. Go to the right part of the page and click on “continue”. After the warning of losing your followers and playlists, simply click on the box to check it. Next, you would click on the “Continue” button. After the new page loads click on “continue” and you would receive a confirmation email for closing your account. After you open the confirmation email, click on the link attached, it would lead you to a page to click on the last step, which is a caption, “Close my account”, which will appear on the loaded page. You’re expected to use the link within 24hrs otherwise you would have to repeat the process.

What Happens When You Close/Delete Your Spotify Account?
If you’re a premium user of the service, you would need to cancel your subscription before you proceed to delete your Spotify account.
- YOU LOSE YOUR FOLLOWERS AND PLAYLISTS – By closing your Spotify account, you in turn lose your followers and your playlist, as well as files that were previously in your library
- YOU LOSE YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS – When you close your Spotify account, you would lose your previous settings and you wouldn’t be able to use the same username of your deleted account, although you can use your previous email if you choose to create another Spotify account. However, retrieving your playlist and followers won’t be achievable.
- YOUR STUDENT DISCOUNT ON PREMIUM WILL PEND – If you were using the student discount feature on your Spotify premium subscription when you delete your Spotify account, you would have to wait until after a year to be able to activate it on another account (if you choose to open another Spotify account)
