Windows 10 is probably the most used and most useful version of Windows, especially with the continuous updates (which is sometimes annoying). Although not everyone would agree to it but most people would agree that its user interface is the best yet, compared to the previous windows versions.
The taskbar is one of the first things you would notice when you launch your windows, and it’s always displayed on your screen by default. There’s no doubt that the taskbar is a very important tool, or contains very important tools, but some people just want some space on their screen, or they aren’t just comfortable always seeing it displayed. If you’re one of these people, then you can hide the taskbar on your windows screen, it’s pretty simple.
Hide on Desktop Mode
First, navigate to where you have your taskbar and right-click on the empty space close to the last icon, a list would pop-up, click on “Taskbar Settings”. In the Taskbar settings, click on the draw (or toggle) to turn on the “Automatically hide the Taskbar in desktop mode” setting. By doing this, the Taskbar would not be visible on your screen until you navigate to the area where it use to be, then it would appear.

If Auto Hide Isn’t Working
There are times when the taskbar may become visible despite turning on Auto-hide. In such a case, try doing these, depending on the challenge.
- Attend to the notification that’s demanding attention on the taskbar and it would automatically become hidden again.
- If you notice that a particular application keeps overriding the auto hide setting, go to the notification setting and disable the app from sending notifications.
- If a particular application keeps giving empty notifications that won’t go away and it’s preventing the taskbar from auto hiding, restart the application.
- If you notice that the App Badges are preventing the taskbar from being hidden, proceed to hide the App badges, by going to your windows setting, click on the taskbar and attend to the App Badge Setting.
- Some apps are not present on the taskbar but are on other pages, sometimes notifications from these apps cause the taskbar to remain visible despite the auto-hide being on. Since you wouldn’t see them on the taskbar, check for the page where they are, and attend to the notification, then the taskbar would return to being hidden.
- Sometimes all it takes is to restart your windows explorer from the task manager.
