The zoom meeting app is among the most popularly used apps for online meetings as it covers both audio and video features. In the last couple of months, the usage of the app has experienced a rise following the increased need for people to communicate and for businesses to hold their official meetings in the advent of the lockdown ensuing from the global pandemic.
The mute feature on the app is one that is necessary to prevent cluster and interference during audio or video meetings. Without the mute feature, background noises from the participants would definitely cause the meeting to be noisy. This article explains how you can mute or unmute during zoom meetings when you’re the host, or you’re a participant.

- Before you join a meeting – First open your zoom meeting app and tap on “Join”, under the Join options, tap on the toggle for “Don’t connect to audio”, this would make sure that when you join the meeting, your mic would be automatically mute. To turn this off, simply turn off the toggle.
- Always Muted – To take the setting a bit further to ensure you’re always muted in meetings, go to “settings” in the zoom meeting app and tap on the toggle for “Always mute my microphone”. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend turning on this setting, just so you don’t have a challenge unmuting your mic when needed.
