Users of iOS 14 and upward have somewhat an advantage when organizing their home screen apps and pages because of the presence of the App Library which was first introduced in the iOS 14. The App Library is usually located on the last page of your home screen pages. It contains all the apps that are currently installed on your phone. In case you’re wondering, Yes, you technically don’t need to further feature individual apps on other pages of the home screen, except the ones you often need prompt access to. With all your apps organized in categories, you can’t go wrong depending on the App library instead.
If your iPhone isn’t running an iOS 14 or newer version, this guide is also for you, because you may need to decongest your home screen of unnecessary apps. When you eventually remove the apps from the pages of your home screen, you definitely won’t want to be sliding through blank or sparse pages, so we would also share how to fix that.
Remove Unwanted Apps from Your Home Screen
Note that removing an app from your home screen isn’t the same as uninstalling or deleting the app from your phone, removing an app helps to hide the app such that it isn’t visible on your home screen whereas deleting the app would completely remove it from your phone.

First, go to the page that the app is featured and tap on the app and hold for a few seconds. A pop up of options would show “Delete…”. From the options, select “Remove from Home screen”. You can also repeat the process for the other apps you wish to remove from your iPhone home screen. If you use an iOS 14 device, you can swipe to the last page of your home screen to find the app in your App library whenever you need it.
Remove Unwanted Pages from Your Home Screen
Now that you have removed the unwanted apps from your home screen, you would most likely be left with some empty pages. Actually, some people simply have a lot of open pages on their home screens that are barely accommodating any apps.
To remove these pages from your home screen, while on the home screen, tap and hold on any space on the home screen, you would see a tray (like several dots) for the pages, just above the apps on the dock. Tap on the tray and the pages would be displayed in a grid format, with the caption “Edit Pages” above them. Tap on the “check” icon below the page you want to remove, and after you’re done closing all the pages you don’t need, tap on “Done” at the top of the screen. The pages would be removed and your home screen would be better organized.
