WhatsApp’s latest update offers a few editing tools when you want you want to sahre a video with someone. This update come with the ability to mute videos. You can remove the audio from your video before you share it with anyone.
How Does This Feature Work?
This feature helps you mute your videos before you share them with your contacts or groups, or before you post them to your Story.
A new mute option appears on the video editing screen, which allows you to mute the video with a single tap.
Who Can Access This Feature?
According to the WhatsApp Twitter account, the mute feature is available to all Android users out there. You don’t have to be running a specific version of Android to use this feature.
According to Whatsapp “For your eyes, not your ears. You can now mute the audio on your videos before adding them to your Status or sending in chat. Now available on Android”.
How to Make Use Of Mute Option in Whatsapp
To use the option in WhatsApp on your Android phone:
- Select a video that you want to share with someone.
- When the video opens in WhatsApp’s built-in video editor, you’ll see a sound icon at the top.
- Tap this sound icon to mute your video.
- Your video will now be sent without the audio.

If you aren’t seeing the option to mute videos in WhatsApp, it’s possible the feature hasn’t been launched in your region. It takes tiem for the option to get to everyone. Make sure your app is updated so you don’t miss out on anything.
Note: the audio remains available on the raw file, so you don’t have to worry about WhatsApp deletig the audio on your video.
