Oculus Venues has proven to be a very good source of entertainment over the year. It has given us ways to be a part of events, including NBA games and music concerts right in our homes. For the very first time, Facebook has teamed up with Fox Sports to bring three Premier Boxing Champions matches to virtual reality through the social VR experience for the Oculus Quest.
They intend to start with real slow with the Amilcar Vidal and Edward “The Hunter” Ortiz showdown on November 14th, 8 PM ET. Cameras with being set ringside so that viewers can have a closer look at the action, which is more important than ever, the company noted, “as fans currently aren’t able to attend PBC events.” The remaining boxing matches are kept in suspense for now.
Oculus recently launched a new feature for the VR experience where you’ll socialize with other people as if you were actually there. The attendees will be able to interact with each other by chatting and making use of action features such as interactive emojis, high fives, fist bumps, and the ability to take photos and selfies.
The signed deal between Facebook and Oculus gives users access to boxing content on Facebook Watch, as well. For the PBC events, in particular, the VR announcers will take advantage of TV commercial breaks to talk about the matches with Venues attendees.
