Google is including a number of new features to its Messages app for Android devices, including being able to reply messages with emoji reactions. The long-awaited feature nows give users the ability to send messages and what they feel through emojis, it is something that’s long been available in other messaging apps WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and iOS’s already created Messages app.
The feature was pinpointed in research in May, but Google has now officially launched it as part of the latest update of its Messages app. In order to make use of an emoji reaction, just click and hold on to the message you want to react to and a series of cute animated emoji will pop up that you can choose from.
However, you will only be allowed to make use of the emoji reactions if you have RCS chat turned on. Google is also adding a new feature to Smart Reply, which automatically suggests options for you. It can suggest an emoji reaction for text without having to hold down the text.
Although, Google made this feature available only in English because it is still a work progress, and will definitely make it available in other languages soon. As if that isn’t enough, if you feel texting, using emoji reaction, or stickers are good enough, Google is adding a few other handy tools to help you communicate in Messages, including a new video call button.
The video call’s button takes you straight to a Google Duo video call and a media editor you can use to mark up photos and share them right inside a conversation. You can now enjoy this exclusive upgrade for free and start communicating with whoever you want and however you want.
