In November last year, Samsung introduced us to another aspect of its gadget production. They are the “first-of-its-kind” smart monitor lineup. This includes the M5 and M7 monitors also known as the world’s first ‘do-it-all’ screens. Already, they are available in the US, Canada, and China and have finally arrived in India.
Specifications: Samsung M5 and Samsung M7
The name do-it-all screens, where did it come from? You might be wondering why it’s called that but you’ll be happy to know the reason. These screens are not just monitors but can also be used as a full-fledged smart TV. One second it a monitor for works and the next, it’s a TV for streaming TV shows and movies because it comes with built-in suport for Netflix, YouTube, Apple TV+, and other OTT apps.
Abut the specifications, the Samsung M5 comes in two types, 27-inch and 32-inch with Full–HD resolution. While Samsung M7, has a 32-inch Ultra-HD display. Both the monitors include a VA panel, support a 60Hz refresh rate, and an 8ms response time. The panels onboard also support HDR10, up to 250 nits of peak brightness, and a 178-degree viewing angle.
To add to it, you can adjust he aspect ratio of these smart monitors. You can go from a standard 16:9 aspect ratio to an ultrawide game view with a 21:9 aspect ratio. But I won’t advise you do so.
These smart monitors can run OTT apps, as well as Microsoft Office 365 apps, without the need for a PC or mobile device. That is because of the Tizen OS 5.5 software, which also brings smart home controls, DeX support, and more to these devices.
The Samsung M5 and M7 also include 10W speakers, 2 HDMI ports, 3 USB-A ports, Wi-Fi 5, and Bluetooth 4.2 in terms of connectivity options.
Cost and Availability
The 27-inch variant of the Samsung M5 is priced at Rs. 21,999 while the 32-inch M5 smart monitor will retail at Rs. 24,999 in India. The 32-inch 4K Samsung M7 smart monitor is cost Rs. 36,999 and is currently available to buy at Samsung Shop, Amazon, and all leading retail stores.
