Microsoft added another feature to Skype called “Together Mode”. The feature makes use of an AI-powered segmentation technology to put everyone in a join video call at the same place. You’ve probably seen the Together Mode in action before but didn’t take note of it. The NBA made use of this feature when it tried to recreate the existence of a packed arena without any fans being present.
With the latest update in the app, you can now make a joint video call with whoever you choose and pretend to be in the same place provided there are at least five participants in the call. Moreover, you don’t need to have Skype installed on your computer before you can access the feature. You can access it through the platform’s web client, as far one person has an account, they can invite others using a Meet now link.
Microsoft isn’t just adding Together Mode alone to Skype. The moment you update your app, you’ll also find a new grid mode feature that lets you see every webcam stream simultaneously. You can download Skype 8.67 on Windows, Mac, and Linux.
