Have ever wished your PlayStation controller was edible or more fruit like? Well, you’re in luck because Sony has filed a patent to explore the idea of using a banana as a controller.
What Patent Did Sony File?
The tech company has filed a patent that would let you use every day, non-electric items in place of an actual controller for your PlayStation. You can view the patent on the US patent & Trademark Office website.
The patent make use of banana for illustration, but it can be any non-luminous object that is “inexpensive, simple, and non-electronic.”
The trick behind it is that camera scans the object in your hand using a contour detection operation and the output of a machine learning model, tracks its shape, maps controller button on it. The moves you make are scanned and set back to the console.
