The Toronto District School Board (TDSB) has just released an app that lets parents track their children’s health screening results, as well as access information about wellness in the school system and community.

What is the Tdsb health screening app?
TDSB Health is a comprehensive health assessment tool specifically designed for students of Toronto’s public school board. The goal of TDSB HEALTH is to provide an online platform that allows teachers, parents, and students to access information and tools related to student health in one convenient location.
TDSB HEALTH is unique among school health assessment tools in that it is free for students and has been designed specifically with Toronto’s public school board in mind. Because of its focus on Toronto’s public schools, TDSB HEALTH offers features such as SchoolLink, which links your child to their school by matching them with their teacher(s), and ParentTrack, which allows parents to review their child’s progress over time.

How does it work?
The app allows parents to keep track of their child’s height, weight, and BMI. It is available for both iOS and Android phones. The app also has access to a dashboard that enables parents to view any recent screenings done in school by their child’s grade.
The parent can see if it was normal or whether there were any concerns noted. If there were concerns, they can contact the school administration or make an appointment with their doctor to discuss these results further.
If a parent has an appointment with their doctor, they can share that information through email. This will allow them to give their doctor up-to-date information regarding any potential problems with their child’s health.
User requirements
- When a user selects to set their gender, show them pictures and describe in text what makes a boy different from a girl.
- If a user selects male, then label their private parts as penis and testicles.
- If a user selects female, then label their private parts as vagina and labia.
- Include instructions on how to use a maxi pad correctly.
- Include instructions on how to use sanitary pads correctly (if you want).
- Include instructions on how to recognize symptoms of UTI (if wanted).
