Why Should I Study in the USA?

The United States is one of, if not THE most diverse countries on Earth. Studying at a university or college there will give you invaluable insight into another culture and society.

While you’re there, make sure to try out local foods, meet new people, explore your surroundings (or just relax), and just have fun! When your time is up, you’ll leave with a greater understanding of other places in the world, as well as yourself. It’s an experience that can’t be matched by any book.

How can I Afford it?

Everything you need to know about studying abroad but didn’t want to ask. It is a common misconception that living abroad as an undergraduate is out of reach; most universities offer programs to study at various institutions abroad or a semester exchange.

If your interest lies within a specific location, there are also many options to fund such travel. Students can apply for funding from their university (which vary by school), apply through national funding bodies, or independently raise funds through crowdsourcing (crowdfunding).

Although a vast majority of undergraduate programs will cost students money, over $500 million is given in scholarships each year by private organizations; these typically require extra essays but are definitely worth applying for!

What is your Experience of Studying in the US?

If you’re looking to study abroad, it’s a good idea to have some experience living in a foreign country. Doing so will open your eyes to many of the differences between cultures, give you insight into how things work abroad, and increase your ability to communicate effectively overseas.

There are many ways to gain international experience—work or volunteer abroad, do an internship at home through an organization like AIFS or AIESEC, travel independently for several months—but we recommend staying longer than two weeks.

If you live in a country for several months or more, you’ll probably develop strong enough relationships that people will miss you when you leave; those connections can make settling back home easier once your trip is over.

My Experience of Applying to Universities

I applied to uni using UCAS in March. I found it quite difficult and stressful because UCAS is a bit different from how it used to be back when I was applying, but with perseverance, you can do it. It’s just so much easier when you know where you want to study.

Even after all that though, I still couldn’t get into my first choice university (not even their other course!). So, if you don’t get in straight away try again next year. If you are going to look into universities then check out our student guide !!! But if there is a university you love, try making them aware of your interest by going there on an open day or contacting them directly via email or phone!!

Taking Part in Orientation day Activities

On arrival at your course, you’ll be taken to your class where you will meet your fellow students and teachers. Orientation days are a great way to get you into study mode, familiarize yourself with the campus, create friendships and set some goals.

The schedule varies depending on your location but can include: a welcome talk from local staff talks by previous students about their experiences studying in America, field trips to local sites of interest, or commercial businesses that offer work experience opportunities.

There is also time set aside for group activities so make sure you arrive on time – orientation begins promptly at 9 am! Group games are always fun; it’s an excellent way to break down barriers between new people. Make sure you have some ‘ice breaker’ questions ready!

Studying at University

Studying abroad is a great opportunity to expand your horizons. But if you are thinking of studying in another country, have you considered doing so at an American University?

American Universities have some of the highest quality degree programs available, including many that are respected internationally. Moreover, unlike other institutions of higher education around the world, American universities have fairly simple admission procedures.

Logistics for Moving to Another Country

For US citizens, traveling to another country typically only requires a passport. A visa is required if you plan on working abroad. For those who aren’t citizens, moving to another country can be trickier. Generally speaking, foreigners need special permission to live or work in a new country.

Getting a Work Visa After Graduation

Some U.S. universities offer international students a work visa after graduation, but you have to ensure that your program will lead to a degree that falls into one of these fields, which requires at least two years of study: architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences or life sciences; biological or biomedical sciences; social sciences; business management; education. Additionally, your degree must be at least a bachelor’s-level study — a master’s-level study won’t usually suffice.
