Calabar carnival also is known as Africa’s biggest street party was a carnival created as part of making cross river state, Nigeria the number one tourist site and destination for Nigerians and tourists all over the world. The carnival which starts every December 1 and runs through December 31 has elevated, escalated and boosted the cultural strength of Nigeria while entertaining millions of people within and outside the state with a massive stream of entertainment. Each year the Calabar carnival is given a theme that sends out a message and builds up the carnival and this year 2019 the theme for the carnival is “humanity “Nigerian culture and tourism content is being showcased to the national and international population present. This carnival is also called the pride of Nigeria.
The Calabar carnival is the biggest and longest tourism event in west Africa. It features participants from over 25 different countries. The street parades and battles of the band are broadcasted to a television audience of over 50 million and social media is not left out as both Instagram and Facebook also Carrie’s event.
